Paul Murphy

Founder / CEO / Author / Still Figuring It Out
(and that’s okay…)

I’m Paul Murphy, aka ‘Murph’, and I’m here to say I don’t have all the answers. Seriously, I’ve taken more wrong turns than a learner driver with a broken satnav. But, the truth is, all those detours taught me more than any ‘quick win’ ever could. Whether we’re talking about navigating the world of being a husband or father, or even mastering the fine art of sterile liquid transfer (yeah, it’s a thing), I’ve learned there’s no perfect formula. It’s all about a lot of hard work, countless dead ends, and, of course, quite a few cups of tea along the way! Let’s be honest, most success gurus are overrated. We live in a world where everyone is selling their path to glory, promising if you ‘just’ follow their steps, you’ll end up ‘living the dream’. But here’s the thing: life doesn’t work like that. I’m not here to tell you how I ‘made it’ or even offer some magic formula for success. Truth be told, I’m still figuring it all out myself—and that’s perfectly fine. To put it bluntly, if you’re looking for someone to promise you untold riches, I’m not your guy. But, if you want some advice on finding your own definition of success, then achieving it, I might be the person you’re looking for. That said, if you’re not up for being resilient, experiencing the odd failure, and having a sense of humour about it all, well, I’m still probably not your guy! As I’d hope you’ve figured out by now, finding your way in this world is anything but predictable! Want to know the mind blowing truth? Success isn’t a destination – it’s a messy, complicated, frustrating, thrilling, and addictive ongoing process. Oh, and I’m still in the thick of my journey. But here’s the good news, in the midst of the chaos around success is where growth happens – and growth is good.

Experience

Founder & CEO, Pure Transfer Ltd.
(2015 – present)

I run a company that makes sure liquids get from ‘Point A’ to ‘Point B’ without causing a disaster. It’s all about a pure transfer of liquid, so I called the company ‘Pure Transfer’ – because, sometimes, it’s best not to overcomplicate issues. Through running businesses, I’ve realised that people often misunderstand what’s important when you’re in charge. Leadership isn’t about always having everything under control all the time, nobody always has everything sorted – if they say they do then they’re telling porkies. What’s important is managing the chaos and (occasionally) laughing at the mess. Building Pure Transfer showed me that success isn’t linear, sometimes you’ve just got to roll with the punches. Oh, and, every now and then, it’s important to grab a cup of tea and a biscuit, scratch your head and come up with a plan that helps you to move forward from where you are.

Author

“We need to talk about success." Stop dreaming, start achieving…

A book about real lives in the real world, We need to talk about success doesn’t promise to make you rich or famous. The focus is on discovering what ‘success’ means to you, and taking achievable steps along a path to your goal. The book’s filled with laugh-out-loud stories about the mistakes I’ve made, the lessons I’ve learned, and why, sometimes, success isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. We need to talk about success is a practical guide to what you should expect as you journey towards achieving your goals. My second, as yet untitled, book is nearly complete, with another in the works.

Summary

It’s time to get honest. There’s too much hot air in the world of business. With that in mind, let’s stop pretending that any of us have it all figured out. Nobody does. So, if you’re looking for some authenticity, a few laughs, and a regular reminder that it’s OK to not have all the answers, feel free to connect. Let’s figure it all out together, one cup of tea at a time.
